The centerpiece of the the HP G60-235DX is the Cinematic 16.0" High Definition HP BrightView Display (1366x768) which is the new standard for widescreen displays on a laptop according to industry insiders <click here>. The transition to the 16inch display from a 15.4inch is intended to harmonize the aspect ratios of laptops and consumer LCD TVs. When used speaking of laptop displays, WXGA is most commonly used to refer to a resolution of 1280×800 pixels with an aspect ratio of 16:10. On the other hand, televisions and other monitors intended for consumer entertainment use, WXGA is generally understood to refer to a resolution of 1366×768, with an aspect ratio of 16:9. Since movies are intended to be played on consumer LCD TVs, films are made using the 16:9 aspect ratio. This is the reason why there are black bars on top and at the bottom when you watch DvD movies on a laptop. Based on our actual tests the 16.0-inch widescreen display provides ultra-large pictures with almost none or less of the "black bars" for enhanced viewing comfort during DvD movie playback.



For everyday use the advantage of a 16.0" is you get the height of a 14inch with the width of a 17inch with the weight of a 15.4”. Some might say the 16.0"WXGA is only 0.4" larger; so what major impact does it have? LCD displays are measured diagonally and not via its width. In reality the 16inch display(14"W x 8"H) is actually One(1) inch wider than a 15.4"Panel(13"W x 8.5"H). For reference the 14"Widescreen measures 12"Wx7.5"H.

The additional 1-inch in width means two or three more columns on excel, or 2 font size higher on the word and powerpoint. Inside the G60-235DX is the 64-bit Ready Intel Pentium Dual Core T4200 processor offering 2.0GHz core speed, 1MB L2 cache and an upgraded 800MHz frontside bus.
